Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105, ESV
Every time I hear this verse, I want to sing it! Commonly sung in the Church, it is a reminder of God’s promises to us and how we can keep ourselves steady in our daily walk. When guided by the Word of God, we find that His Word leads us in ways we may have not gone before and away from paths that would lead us into pain and sorrow. If we reflect on God’s protection in our lives, we may find many times when He used someone to guide us away from poor decisions that would have had negative outcomes. He opens to us doors that may have been closed and shines light in directions we would not have noticed without Him. This is the work of our Father as He pours out His mercy and the Holy Spirit gives us light to be led away from sin and death and into the comfort of His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
