In an ever-changing world, God remains consistent. His word and His character are the same yesterday, today, and into eternity. Our Lord’s words are never failing, and His promises are firm and trustworthy. Some may see His mercy as a changing of His mind because throughout the Bible and still today, people do not receive the punishment that is truly deserved. In this, we may find a true hope that will not fall away. When we cry out to God, He hears us. When we suffer, He knows our suffering and remains near us in our time. It is this that gives us the hope we need to stand firm and unafraid of what may come, because the ever-shifting sands of our fallen world will keep us uncertain and afraid, trying to drive us away from His promises. Yet, even when we fail, for those of us who have been chosen by our Lord, He will be there to help us in our trials. Our Lord Jesus Christ took it all on the Cross for us to heal us, renew us, and restore us. It is in this truth, we find our hope and may come to His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
