We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,

2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV

Belief in Christ is central to the Christian faith. This is a point which every person who calls themselves a believer would hold as true. We are called to hold all our thoughts and actions captive to Christ, yet, we often fail in this. Thankfully, Christ has set us free from sin and shame, yet there are those who wish to bind us up once again. Much of this comes through those who have a high mind and seek to tell us that God does not exist. As we come to our Lord and lay down all those things that burden our hearts, He lifts it from us and destroys all those that wish to raise doubt in our beings. As Christ reveals Himself more in our lives, the more He captivates us, guides us, and opens His word to us. In doing so, boundaries will be destroyed and bondage will be broken. We will be set free as we are held captive in Christ’s forgiveness and grace. In our bondage in Christ that is created as He captivates our hearts and frees us in His grace. As followers of Christ, we are bound to Christ, but outside of Christ we are bound to sin. In this bondage to Christ, we find our peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
