Genesis 8:21

The LORD smelled a soothing aroma; and the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the inclination of man’s heart is evil from his youth, nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.”

Genesis 8:21, MEV

God knows the heart of mankind. He knew the sinfulness of man after the flood, as Noah sought solace in the fruit of the vine, as Ham revealed His father’s shame instead of covering it, and throughout the Bible and in history, we find evidence of this truth. So, God promised never to flood the earth as He had, but He gave us something better. In entering Creation, God gave the only path possible for our salvation and redemption, the only thing that could overcome sin once and for all time: He gave Himself. This is the reality of the God we worship, the God we place our trust in, and the salvation promise that He and He alone could deliver. A purely just God allowed for all the injustice in the world to be placed upon Him. A sinless God became sin so we could all be redeemed. No greater sacrifice could be made, and it had to be done by God Himself. Removing the curse and stain of sin and leading us into His eternal peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
