Luke 18:1

He told them a parable to illustrate that it is necessary always to pray and not lose heart.

Luke 18:1, MEV

It can be disheartening to face opposition. When we feel rejected or as if our requests are not being heard, God reminds us to continue to pray. Our Lord listens and, though we may not fully understand, He does not forget or ignore our requests. Our Heavenly Father desires us to pray and continue to pray without end. This does not mean that we will always receive the things we pray for as we expect or desire for our prayers to be answered, yet we can have certainty that our prayers are being heard because our Lord promises to hear His chosen and He bends His ear to His children, yet, like a good father our Heavenly Father will not be held captive to our will but seeks to turn us to His. As our nature is to curve into ourselves our Lord calls us to turn outward and witness His glorious creation, holding onto the wonders that He presents to us. As our Lord, Jesus Christ, prayed in the garden with the words, “Not my will, but yours,” we are to seek to align our prayers and our hearts with the will of our divine Father, and as we are bent and seeking out His pathways to be prepared to withstand the trials that will confront us as the light passes through the phases of our day and the seasons of our lives. It isn’t as though He does not hear, and our persistent prayers resonate in His ears as they echo into the heavens and draw us ever closer to the foot of His throne as we look into the azure presence that stands above our heads and feel the comforting reminders of His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
