1 John 2:2, ESV

He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

1 John 2:2, ESV

The death of Jesus was for the atonement of our sins. In this act, God took away all sin for all time. We no longer must wonder if we are forgiven but confess and know we are. Sadly, many miss this reality. One of the most difficult things for many is to admit that they are or have been wrong. We like to justify our sins and make our sins righteous. We become angry and say and do things, it was the other person's fault because of something they did. We quit going to church, it is the pastor’s fault because the messages were not doing anything for us, or something was said that offended us or we may leave because we disagreed with decisions made by the other members of the congregation. Jesus didn’t die for righteous people but for sinful, frail, and broken people. He didn’t just die for a select group of people but the whole world. A world full of sin. This is the God we worship, and He doesn’t limit forgiveness but for all who confess and believe. To confess means humility. You can’t confess something you don’t believe is wrong. If you can’t confess, you can’t be forgiven. If you feel justified in a sin you can’t admit fault. We see the consequences as we see many issues in our world. We see the lack of a moral compass and the anger and division that has arisen. When we know Jesus, we know peace. Let Christ’s peace shine out.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
