Galatians 6:14

But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Galatians 6:14, LSB

We love stories of people who, against all odds, pull things together and become success stories. It is natural for us to celebrate success and to tell others about our success. The reality is that we, as followers of Christ, are different. I love hearing athletes give credit to our Lord Jesus Christ. At one time, it was more common, and some may have considered it cliché. Yet, what better platform to offer than being broadcast to all watching? We may never have an opportunity to sit on a stage with a microphone before reporters and millions of people watching us speak, but that doesn’t mean that we cannot make an impact in our lives on others through our actions and words. Humbling ourselves before the Lord changes us and how we may speak. Our actions are different, and our reactions are transformed. The power of a heart focused on glorifying Christ creates a different drive in our lives and resets the measure of success. Our standards are modified to reflect the One who we choose to honor in our lives. A Christian is called to be the most helpful of citizens, the most industrious worker, and the most kindly and honest person. If our boasting is in Christ and Christ alone there is only one standard by which we live our lives and whatever may be in the world, we may always walk in His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
