For this testimony, I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I speak the truth; I am not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
1 Timothy 2:7, EHV
It is nice to know God’s purposes for you. It is an aspect of our faith that we discern and explore as we journey together and seek after how we, as a body, are to work together for the glory of God. Not everyone has the same calling in the faith. Some of us are meant to be preachers and teachers, but others are intended to be organizers and hospitality. There are many gifts that God gives us specifically for building up the faith, and these may not necessarily be the same as what our calling is in the world. In our congregations, we know those who have a gift of prayer and others who make the best foods to share and make everyone feel so welcome. It is our calling to seek out how God can best utilize us in the faith by reading the Word, asking questions of our faith family, and trying various things to see if it is something we feel called to do. Not everyone is blessed with the clarity of calling that Paul had, but as followers of Christ, we are called for the sake of building up our Lord’s Church. Each of us is vital to the mission of our Lord and can have an impact on the lives of others through our utilization of what God has given us. We are all a part of the same body, and we are called to work together for God’s glory so all may know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
