Romans 10:13

Yes, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Romans 10:13, EHV

This verse is repeated three times in Scripture, first in Joel 2:32, then Acts 2:21, and finally here. The promise given to us in Christ is powerful, and His salvation promise is there for us all. Notice it doesn’t say, “Repent and call on the name of the Lord,” but simply to humble oneself to realize the need of His saving grace. The call itself shows a penitent heart. One would think this would be easy, but the reality is that if a person does not have the Holy Spirit within them, it is not possible. There are many good people who may never enter the glory of God because they believe that it is all about what they do, rather than in realizing their need for God and what He has done for us. Christ didn’t die on the Cross so we could achieve forgiveness, but so we could receive His forgiveness. None of us can grasp salvation on our own, but we receive it through Christ, and in calling out to Him, He gives us what we ask for: His forgiveness, His salvation, and His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
