He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
Revelation 22:20–21, ESV
Have you noticed how often when there are great struggles in the world we begin to have more and more predictions of the end times. Since Jesus ascended, this has been the norm as we entered those end times awaiting Jesus’ return. The soon has often been tied to the verse, “a thousand years to the Lord is like a day,” and at both millennial marks people began predicting the Lord’s return with greater earnest. The reality is we are not meant to know when the end will be, but trust that one day our Lord will return for us and we are reminded to be prepared for His arrival. The calling of a Christian is not to worry about the end because it has already been settled for us, but to look to the now and the ministry that lies before us. We all have neighbors struggling that do not know the comfort of our Lord Jesus Christ. We see children born into households without any grounding in the Christian faith. It is our calling to be a light to those who do not know our Lord and proclaim His truth in our words and our actions so those that are lost may be found and come to know our Lord’s peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
