Acts 2:42, NASB95
It is fascinating to watch a new convert to the Christian faith focus on learning as much as they can. Reading the Bible, devotions, prayers, and studying the faith to grow deeper. The calling of our Lord is centered in this reality, and as followers of Christ, the calling is not to become settled in our faith and become static in our practices. The Christian faith is dynamic and engaging. In our continual reading of Scripture, the Holy Spirit regularly opens more to us and reveals the heart of God in ways we may not have seen in prior readings. Worship is not just a thing we go to, but a part of who we are as we unite as the people of God, singing our praises together and holding each other in prayer, as we regularly gather to participate in the Lord’s Supper and receive the gifts of our Lord. We are a people called together and sent out regularly to praise our Lord Jesus Christ, to know His love for us as His people, and to proclaim Him to all, so that together we may be joined in His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
