Love the LORD, all his favored ones! The LORD preserves the faithful, but he pays back in full the one who acts proudly. Be strong, and let your heart be firm, all you who wait confidently for the LORD.
Psalm 31:23–24, EHV
Worship is to be the center of our lives. As David faced struggles, he not only prayed for God’s help but also praised God for all that He had done for him. We are called to be courageous in our faith and bold in our belief. There will be opposition to God and His Word. This has been true since the Fall and began with the deceiving serpent's words, “Did God really say?” Sowing seeds of doubt and deception the deceiver lurks, yet God is always near at hand as we cry out to Him. He is there to give us strength to proclaim His truth and sing His praises. We can stand anything with our Lord by our side. For those who are prideful and believe that they are in control, look out! God will bring upon them great judgment. We are not the bringers of judgment but are the carriers of the Word and the shining light in the darkness. As followers of Christ, our lives are a beacon to those looking for something greater. Like David before Saul and the Philistines, we are emboldened in our courage by the faith that our Father in Heaven places in us. He supports us when we boast in Him and our pride is centered in His Word. We are the feet that carry out the Good News and blessed is the Word we bring as we shine our Lord’s peace on the hearts of all who will hear.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
