For you died and your life has been hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:3, LSB
As Christians, we desire that all sin be put to death. This is what we receive from Christ Jesus. Since He died for our sins and we have been buried in the waters of Baptism in His name, we are then dead and await our arising with Christ our Lord. We walk with a message of hope and promise as we walk out our baptismal promise and proclaim all Christ has done for us. This process is a daily dying and renewal in Christ as the world tries to steal us away and lead us down false paths. It should not be viewed as a fulfillment until Christ returns and calls us to Himself. Whether this be as we walk the earth or are awakened from our sleep and brought to Him, this reality will come before the judgment of the world. As we keep our eyes focused on the reality of Christ and His sacrifice, we should not fear the things of this world or any future judgment. Our salvation is made certain in Christ and the promises given to us through Him. We can run the race with confidence knowing that the End is nearer to us and the prize awaits us as we strive to be a light to a darkened world. We are the bearers of Christ’s promises and the carriers of His peace. Let your feet be the blessed ones who carry out the Good News and let all know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
