So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Romans 6:11, ESV

God desires our lives to no longer be ruled by sin. As we walk in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, we are aware that through His death, we have been set free. This does not mean we will not be faced with struggles and sin will no longer trouble us or tempt us, but we are set free and given the power of forgiveness to no longer be bound up in the guilt and lies. The dominion of sin is destroyed, and the reign of Christ is victorious. As we walk in the death of our Lord, we live new lives that are empowered to speak the truth in love and bring about change in the lives of others and our communities. We live not to ourselves, but for the glory of our Lord. We belong to Him. Our bodies are not to be used to do whatever for ourselves, but to be holy vessels set apart for God. The struggles that we face as we go against the powers and principalities that seek to enslave us and bind us in the sinful natures of our broken creation are beaten in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him, we find our peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
