Proverbs 20:5

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.

Proverbs 20:5, MEV

As a deep thinker, there are times when I get lost in my ponderings. Some may relate to this reality, but it is important not to get lost in thoughts for too long. But in Christ, we are meant to seek to bring understanding to ourselves and others. As we study and grow in the Word of God, it is fun to plumb the depths of Scripture to question and grow, but it is also important for us to share and build others up in the Word. We are called to be in community as Christ desires for us to seek Him not in our solitary ways, but together. The Word of God is meant to be studied with others, and that helps open it more fully for us as the Holy Spirit reveals within each of us things that others may not notice. The reading of Scripture is a dialogue and an exchange as our Lord opens the Word to all through preaching, teaching, and study. The pieces come together when shared, and we are built up to proclaim the love of Christ to any who will hear and bring them into His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
