2 Samuel 23:15–16

If you'd like to watch click on Pastor Squatch Musings!

David expressed a deep craving, “Who will give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate?” So the three elite warriors broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate. They took it and brought it to David, but he was not willing to drink it, so he poured it out to the LORD.

2 Samuel 23:15–16, EHV

As we walk this journey of faith, we discover what it means to be a person after God’s own heart and how that may build a deep, abiding affection from those we work with. David did not order his men to bring him water from the well, but they heard his cry and wanted to fulfill his craving. We may wonder how those men felt when he poured it out, but we cannot doubt their devotion to their king. If our hearts are devoted to Christ, we can be a voice of change to many who struggle against the temptations of this life. As our hearts yearn to be servants of the one, true King, we can stand at the ready for all that faces us knowing we are not left to our own defenses, but we have a ready army of faith warriors that stand beside us and an army that also stands before us. We must not be fearful because Christ is with us, and He commands the legions of angels to be our forward guard. Let our devotion be centered on God and for all whose hearts are also connected we will find that we are always with devoted brothers and sisters of the faith standing steadfast in the Word and ready to face any of those who wish to bring destruction as we seek to lead all to Christ’s peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
