We have different gifts, according to the grace God has given us. If the gift is prophecy, do it in complete agreement with the faith. If it is serving, then serve. If it is teaching, then teach. If it is encouraging, then encourage. If it is contributing, be generous. If it is leadership, be diligent. If it is showing mercy, do it cheerfully.
Romans 12:6–8, EHV
God is the great gift-giver. He gives us gifts for various purposes that He desires for us to fulfill to His glory. It is our calling to live and work within those gifts to His glory, honor, and praise. As we walk out our lives with Him, we shine His light when we do that which we have been created to do, and if we are doing as we are called to do, we will see ministry grow and thrive. Our lives are meant to be transformative to our communities as we dynamically live out our faith. There is nothing humdrum about Christianity because of our Lord’s work, and there is no one who is unable to contribute. Over time, our giftings can change as we transition through life and the next generation carries on. This is a reality for us to live within also. We are never left unable to serve God, but as we seek out new paths and are steadfast in our faith, we find that God is continually building us up and at work in our lives as we seek to serve Him and live out His peace in our lives and the lives of those whom we love.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
