So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13, ESV
God gives us many gifts, but none is greater than His love. It is hard to emulate love like God’s because we are imperfect vessels. God’s love is a love that repairs our brokenness, but He does not try to hide the scars from our past but utilizes them to create through us something more beautiful. His actions aren’t meant to excuse our sins but to show through us how great He is in how He restores us. When we are open about our past, it is not meant to be therapy for us but a window into the hearts of others who have struggled or are struggling and need to hear our stories. Like the Japanese art of Kintsugi, our Lord takes our broken pieces and puts us back together with gold, creating a tapestry of our breaks that shines out something even more beautiful. We should never underestimate our stories that shine out God’s love for us and never be ashamed of how God restored us. In these, we shine out God’s love for us and how faith and hope united in love is a transformative force. I know in my life, it was the love that people had for me that led them to pray for me, and their faith, hope, and love led me to a faith that abounds and a peace that I could never fully understand nor deserve.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
