Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Romans 1:22–23, ESV
We see it throughout history and watch as it continues today. We tend to confuse that we are those created in the image of God and not the other way around. We make idols that look like us and things within creation. It can be easy to worship the created things and lose sight of the Creator of all things. We see this as those in academia often praise and worship their intellect rather than humble themselves and follow the One who knows it all and has full understanding of all things. They cast aside the one thing that reveals the will of the Father for writings that have been created by those who fled from the Creator. As they deny the existence of God, they make themselves into gods and expect others to bow to their knowledge, as they lack the wisdom to fully understand. Those who mock the followers of the one true God as they fall into folly and trust in things of which they truly have no real knowledge. We, who believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, seek to live in how He guides and look forward to the fullness of His eternal peace as we proclaim His glory to all who will hear.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
