“Behold, I am against the prophets,” declares the LORD, “who use their tongues and declare, ‘The Lord declares.’ “Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams,” declares the LORD, “and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the LORD.

Self-appointed charlatans and false prophets have been around for millennia. People are always wanting to know the future and there are always those who like to believe themselves to have special insight or secret knowledge. Be wary of those who proudly proclaim themselves to be prophets or boldly speak of special gifts given to them from God, if it is for their gain it is not from God. There are other spirits in this world that seek to lead God’s people away and into dangerous paths. These are the people God was speaking about in this warning He gave through Jeremiah. God desires for us to lay all our concerns at His feet knowing He is in control and He will be the one to lead His people into His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
