Romans 5:12

So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, so also death spread to all people because all sinned.

Romans 5:12, EHV

Sin entered through one man, Adam. Because the Law was given to Adam to not eat of the tree, and he partook of the gift of Eve and ate the fruit of the forbidden tree we became aware of the weight of the Law and the sin that grew from it. The presence of God became something to fear, and the lies of the deceiver filled our heads.  Adam and Eve didn’t flee the deception but hid from God. That is still true of us today. We try to hide our sins from God and put on our masks of righteousness. When our sins are exposed, or we desire to live in them we blame the righteous One and call it intolerance. Paul wrote of this as he saw the desire to make it seem as though sin were not the problem, but people seek to redefine that which is sinful as a virtue and that which is truly virtuous sinful. The same continues throughout history and it all began with one sin. Not one person on earth is sinless and only one man lived throughout history without sinning, and He took all sin upon Himself for all time. This was not to give us the freedom to sin but to release us from sin’s bondage. Because of sin, we will all die but for those of us who belong to our Lord, our death will only be once, and then we will be taken to Him having all sin removed from us and live in union with our God for eternity. This is the promise, this is where we find our peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
