Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying: “The hands of Zerubbabel Have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.”
Zechariah 4:8–10, NKJV
It can be easy to become discouraged when everything seems to be falling apart, but our Lord will always finish what has been started. God has all the means by which to work within us, and though it may seem small at first, as we walk closer with God and seek His pathways, He will unfurl the plan before our eyes. This is what our Lord desires for all of us to know. We don’t need to know the how or the when as long as we know who is doing the work, and because of Him, we are not to lose hope. As God promised the prophets of old, He gives us hope eternal. Our Lord calls us to direct our thoughts to Him and seek His hand in everything to see what He desires to accomplish through us. In our weakness, He will do great things. In our lack, He will create abundant hope, and through His work, He may shine out His glory through us into the lives of others, leading us all into His glorious peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
