Reliable people will have abundant blessings, but those with get-rich-quick schemes won’t go unpunished.
Proverbs 28:20, CEB
We are all familiar with the various marketing ploys that promise “easy money.” I remember in college, the big one was telephone calling cards. There were many people who made money on the scheme, but if you were one of the lower ones to buy in, it was costly. God desires for us not to seek after riches, but Him. We are called to faithfulness and not seeking to make money at the expense of others. God desires that we not do anything at the expense of another but seek to help others and live lives that reflect His mercy and grace. Judas Iscariot was after the easy life and was tempted with thirty pieces of silver. Let our hearts not so easily be led astray, but live our lives to reflect Christ’s glory by faithfully working and living out our lives as an example to others. Our calling is not for riches and wealth, but a life lived to reflect our Lord and lead others into His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
