Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have the habit of doing. Rather, let us encourage each other, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:25, EHV
We are created to live in community, and our Lord seeks us to praise Him corporately. For most of history, that has meant gathering with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to hear God’s Word, pray with one another, and share table fellowship. It has appeared in different ways, from homes to places set apart as spaces to worship outside of homes. The purpose was to join together as the people of God to worship as the Church. As the people of God, we are reminded that our strength is made perfect in being united with Christ in our community, singing our praises to God. In a community, trust is built among people. This is dangerous to the plans of the evil one, who seeks to create division and cause us to tear one another apart. In Christ, our neighbor is someone we are called to support, but in the world, we are to see the neighbor as a stranger who poses a danger. Let us be united in Christ and join together to proclaim His glory as we shine as a light in our world that leads to our Lord’s peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
