Serve one another, each according to the gift he has received, as good stewards of the many forms of God’s grace.

1 Peter 4:10, EHV

To serve one another is the purpose of the gifts that God gives. To build one another up, to care for another’s needs, to develop the faith of those whom God places in our lives these are the purposes and the calling of a Christian. As we utilize our gifts thusly, we will find that we, too, will benefit. So much of our world is about self-promotion, but we are not to do the things to promote ourselves, but to promote God in all His manifest glory. In fulfilling our callings and utilizing our gifts to the fullness of their potential, we will see things around us transform, and people’s hearts and minds will be changed. The fights of the world will be of lesser importance, and the people we interact with will react to us differently. This doesn’t always mean that things will be easier, but we will be able to withstand the difficulties that will come better. God will give us the strength to fulfill the work to which He has called us. Our hearts will be filled with less fear. Our struggles will lessen, and our hearts will be mettled so we may not fall into disbelief as God writes His words upon our hearts. All of this is done according to God’s grace and mercy so we may know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
