“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Matthew 28:19, ESV
Believing that Christ is Lord is part of why our calling in the Great Commission is to go and tell others and to baptize them. We baptize as the entrance into the fellowship of believers, which is a gift and calling of the Holy Spirit. In the waters, we receive our adoption as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father, and through this, we receive promises. We tell those who have not heard and teach those in the faith so they may not lose sight of the hope before us and possibly blaspheme the Holy Spirit. We are a faith that is sent out into the world through us, like the early Apostles, we are to be messengers to the world about what and who Jesus is, and our message is a message of hope and joy. As we disciple, which is to teach, they can grow and be a light to others who may be led by their witness. This is the faith we are called to by our Lord, and our message is one of witness as we tell others of our Lord that they, too, may enter His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
