Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or understand, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20–21, LSB
God is not limited by our limitations. We may look at something that we feel God would love to see and think it is impossible, but God can do amazing things through us as His people that will surpass our wildest dreams. He can do all things to His glory and can use imperfect people like us to accomplish those things. It is amazing to think. How often do we hear from churchgoers, “We’re too old,” or “We’re too small,” or “We can’t afford that?” When we look at our limited resources, these things are true, but God does not have limited resources. Think of the Israelites in their wanderings in the desert; they often complained about how limited their resources were, but then God told Moses the plan for building the Tabernacle and how abundant the resources were. They had more than was needed for the work! It isn’t that God won’t provide, but we are called to trust in His providence. God can do amazing things through us who are old, poor, weak, tired, and busy people. He wants us to trust Him and faithfully seek to live out our faith boldly and find comfort in His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
