Malachi 3:6

Certainly, I, the LORD, do not change. That is why you, sons of Jacob, have not come to an end.

Malachi 3:6, EHV

It is God’s unchanging character that has preserved the children of Israel and all of creation. God promised after the Flood that He would never again cover the entirety of the Earth with water, and He hasn’t. God made a covenant with Jacob, and He kept that promise, as His children are still with us today. He entered Creation to bring salvation to all as He had promised at the Fall of Creation, and we await the fulfilment of His promise at the Ascension. The children of Jacob don’t deserve God’s mercy, and neither do we. Yet, we still see His mercies daily. He is continually giving us grace upon grace as the days follow their set patterns. Each morning, we can trust the sun to rise and set in the evening. His mercy abounds, and it does so for us. It is God’s care for us as His creatures and His love of creation that we can find comfort and come to know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
