So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what pleases Me, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:11, LSB
God’s Word is never empty and His final intentions will always succeed. This is why we are called to pay attention to His Word. God wants His Word to be stored up deep inside our hearts, written deeply within us, and the central focus of who we are. This is hard. Yet, He tells us that His Word will succeed, which makes it vital for us to be aware of what He is saying and seek to be in line with the intentions of His heart. The greater focus we place on living within His Word, the greater blessings we will see in our lives. This doesn’t mean that we will find material wealth, but we will find that He provides for us all our needs and the view we hold on life will be transformed. Our worldview will change because we will be given insight into our Lord’s heart and see others differently. The world may not be different, but we will be and through our Lord’s Word, we may find His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
