Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11, LSB
One thing happens the more we read and study God’s Word, certain thoughts and behaviors will become less a part of life as His Word fills the voids and pockets in our thoughts and becomes a greater part of who we are. It’s not that we become sinless, but we will sin less. It is a vital part of the life of a follower of Christ that the Word be regularly written upon our hearts so our minds may be redirected and our words will reflect more of our Lord. God desires that we store up His Word deep within us, so we will find His comfort in the most difficult of times and not lose hope. He desires us to always hold Him in our sight and keep Him close at hand as we journey through life and help us bring others into His light. As we listen to His voice, He will lead us away from paths that will bring us greater pain and suffering and help us avoid the pitfalls that await us in the world. All this so that we may know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
