I will muse upon Your precepts And look upon Your ways. I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word.

Psalm 119:15–16, LSB

God calls us to sit in His Word and seek to follow His ways. He desires His Word to be written on our hearts and to stand steadfast in His statutes, so we never forget Him and His Word. We are reminded of the treasure we have been given. The power of the Word is that it gives us new life and restores us to rights because it reveals our Lord to us. In times of difficulty, the Word lifts us and pulls us out of misery. If the world moves contrary to the Word by having it written on our hearts we may be kept from falling away from the truth that our Lord desires us to know to be true. As we delight more and more in our Lord and His Word, we will find the joy He desires for us to know and will keep us in His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
