He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Psalm 147:3, ESV
If you’ve ever known betrayal and heartbreak, one can only imagine how it must be for our God. He has watched His creation rebel against Him, and His chosen seek after false idols, but He is still the healer. He doesn’t require us to earn back His trust and to do things in order for us to know His love and forgiveness. He did the work for us. He entered creation as a baby and grew into a man who knows suffering and pain. He brought healing and renewal with Him. He knows the human condition and understands the aching that is in many hearts caused by the betrayals and deceptions that we face. The broken trust and the unkindnesses that are common in our world. If we look to nature, we find a cruel tyrant ruling over us, but in our Lord, we find a patient and loving God. Our Lord seeks to bring healing to us inside and out, and we await the day that He returns to restore all of creation. All this, so we may know His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
