“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

Genesis 3:15, ESV

Here begins the good news. Here we find promise. God did not fully write off humanity after their transgression, as sin crept into the world. The war between the Deceiver and God for our souls was now fully underway, but the promise of Christ lay thick within these words. As Satan nips and bites at us, we have the promised Savior, the Son, who would bring us into new life with the Father and redeem all of creation. We know that Christ has come and we await His return, when the full victory over sin and death will be declared, in which we will find the restoration of Creation. It is what we await as we remember the birth of Jesus and celebrate the incarnation of our Lord. We look forward to our full restoration and celebrate the forgiveness we have received in His body and blood as the waters of Baptism flow over us. Let the peace of our Lord guide us into the hope and promise of our returning Savior.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
