Bear with one another and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint against anyone else. Forgive, just as Christ forgave you.
Colossians 3:13, EHV
Forgiveness is a gift and a fruit of the faith. The gift comes as we walk in the confidence that our sins have been forgiven by God and we no longer have to worry about things of our past haunting us as it pertains to God. It is also a fruit as we live out the spirit of forgiveness that God desires for us to know and be confident within ourselves and give it to others when they do things meant to harm us or to be quick to offer forgiveness when another feels they have done something that needs forgiveness that you may not have even been aware of its occurrence. Our Lord desires for us not to find offense easily and this helps in forgiveness. We know the depths our Lord was willing to suffer for us and learn how His forgiveness was extended even to those who beat Him, mocked Him, and nailed Him to the Cross. Our Lord desires our compassion to extend to those that may not even realize their need for forgiveness and if they reject the forgiveness offered to them, let their offense lie with them. For us, we are to seek to be forgiving as our Lord is forgiving and not to live a life of constant offense, but in the peace of our Lord who has forgiven us of our offenses.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
