We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV
It is hard to keep our thoughts captive to Christ, especially with all the noise that surrounds us in our daily lives. This has always been the way of the world. The sources of the noise do change, but the purpose of the noise is the same. As followers of Christ, when we feel anxious or emotion begins to overwhelm us, we are called to look to our Lord and pause. Pause to take a moment to pray. Pause to be in the Word. Pause to seek guidance and comfort from the Lord. When a response comes to us that is contrary to God, don’t seek a quick response, but seek to give a godly response. When the falsehoods of this world are confronted by God’s Word, we find that they fall away, and the power we once thought was in them dissipates. The reality of the argument becomes more apparent, and the opinion has the true light of our Lord shed upon it. We will always face opposition in this world, as followers of Christ, and we seek to be a light to the truth of Christ and prepare hearts for His return as He leads us into His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
