Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.
Psalm 105:19, NKJV
Joseph knew hardships in his life. Though his father favored him, his brothers were jealous and hated him for it. He dreamt dreams of his future, but for years had to await its fulfillment. Joseph was an honest and moral man, but he had to face the hardship of false accusations. He was trustworthy, but a kindness was left forgotten as he waited for a promise given to him to be remembered. Through it all, Joseph remained a faithful child of God and was blessed beyond our full understanding. We will face testing in our lives and suffer things that are not a result of anything we have done, yet God does not forget His chosen. He never forgot Joseph. Our Lord keeps His promises. In our times of struggle, we are called to remember our Lord and pray to Him for comfort and peace. We live our lives with a hope not based on what we may see, but on the promises of our Lord and the gift given to us in His death for us upon the Cross. As Jesus cried out in pain, He bore the weight of our sin and shame on His broken frame. He took upon Himself all our failed tests and brought us into the glory of the Father. It is in these times that we look to Him and find our peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
