Ephesians 4:2, EHV

In our microwave-fast world, we like everything immediately and the way we want it all the time. One-day shipping isn’t fast enough for you? Well, here we have same-day shipping. This is the world we live in, and things continue to move faster and faster. The ancient world is not as fast-paced, but Paul’s calling is just as relevant. We are called to be different and live differently. Our witness is centered in our love for others. To be humble, gentle, and patient does not mean that we don’t walk in our convictions, but we are careful in our responses to show true love. This doesn’t mean that we walk back in our beliefs because it may make another feel bad, but show the love of Christ despite differences in belief. Love is not anchored in agreement but shines out in understanding. As we seek to show understanding, we can be compassionate and keep to the truth of the Word and speak Christ’s love into all situations. Some may think that we want sinners out of our churches, but the reality is that our churches are full of sinners in need of a Savior. Christ never excused sin, but He died for the forgiveness of sinners. Our Lord’s words never dismissed sin but called all sinners to repentance. As followers of Christ, we are not called to ignore another’s sin, but to love them and lead them to submit his or her life to Christ’s authority just as we submit ourselves fully to our Lord and King and seek that all may know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
