Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.

1 Peter 2:17, ESV

As we are reminded throughout Scripture, our calling is to honor God, and this we are to do in every aspect of our lives, everywhere we find ourselves. We are to honor His creation. As we live, we are to reflect Him in our lives and see His reflection within all people as being bearers of His reflection, not because they have done anything to earn our respect or honor, but because we, in treating them well, show our love of the Lord. As we walk with one another in faith, we are to treat each of our fellow followers of Christ lovingly as we walk in His truth. We are also called to be obedient to our government, understanding that all authority they have has been given by God. This can be difficult as we walk in a fallen creation, but remember that we are not doing this for their glory but to shine out God’s glory. As we walk as ambassadors of Christ, we do not live for our glory, but to shine out the truth of our Lord and, in our witness, be a beacon of light to lead others into His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
