Isaiah 30:15

For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling.

Isaiah 30:15, ESV

Worry and fret are the norms that we see in our world. The Israelites saw great victories that should not have been won as a result of God's providence. He caused enemy forces to flee and destroy themselves out of fear that God put in them. The angel armies won many victories for the people of Israel, yet they often forgot, sought help elsewhere, and were swallowed up in hopelessness. Our Lord wants us to walk in quiet confidence that can be given only through Him and His Word. We are continually reminded of His promises and of His faithfulness, yet our hearts are often caught unawares. God’s providence doesn’t mean we will not face difficulties. Illness and disease, sadly, are a part of our fallen world because we are unable to live perfectly in this fallen world, but God is still near us, and He desires for us to trust in Him in all things and know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
