“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 4:24, LSB

We can’t hide anything from God. He is not limited by space and time. He doesn’t require the same things we do because He is not bound by flesh, but is wholly spirit. As a triune God, we worship one who is at the same time Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but all one, but each person of God is not the other. This is a part of the mystery of God and part of His wonderful nature of grace and mercy because He has entered into flesh and knows what it means to be human through His Son. One aspect of His nature in us is how He moves our spirit away from the things of this world toward Him. We are no longer bound because of this and are called to turn our hearts and minds in worship of Him and not worship Him with any guile, but in pure praise. We mustn’t hide anything of ourselves from Him because He knows everything and has covered our guilt and shame. In our worship, we are to turn ourselves fully over to Him in our praise, glory, and honor, knowing He has redeemed us and we will one day fully enter into His glory and truly know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
