He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:27–28, MEV
We may not always understand the circumstances that we find ourselves caught within, but God desires for us to seek Him out and not hide from His presence. He knows and can make good out of every moment when we cry out to Him. The key is not to lose hope. The pathways may not always be clear, and even when we seek to do the right thing, situations may arise that may not be most comfortable. In these times, God desires for us to pray and seek His hand at work. Even when things seem most bleak, there remains hope. Though the hope may not be solely for us, we may be the bearers of hope to others also caught up in the web of some event that has taken away all control. Set despair aside and turn to our Lord, who has tabernacled Himself in your heart, and He will give wisdom and courage. One of the most common phrases our Lord gave to His people in times of struggle is, “Be strong and courageous.” These words were not because He believed in the strength of His people, but His desire is for us to believe in His. It is in Him we are to find peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
