Psalm 50:15

“Call upon Me in the day of distress; I shall rescue you, and you will glorify Me.”

Psalm 50:15, LSB

God wants us to call upon Him at all times, and He wants us to know that He will be with us in our times of trouble and distress. He wants our worries and our cares laid at His feet. This may not change the circumstances, but it will change our hearts and strengthen our witness. History shows how martyrs, when faced with suffering, have shown the glory of God as they faced the end of their earthly lives. We often think of God’s healing as coming in only one way, but forget the healing we receive when called into His glory. This isn’t a promise of having all of our wants fulfilled, but a promise of the reality that as we suffer, our suffering Lord is with us. As followers of Christ, we are never alone. God has rescued us through His sacrifice on the Cross. He calls us to Himself, always, and seeks for us to know His promises will not be forgotten nor will He break them. As followers of Christ, He desires for us to always know His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
