Where there is no vision, the people are out of control, But how blessed is he who keeps the law.
Proverbs 29:18, LSB
God’s law is meant to restrain, but the vision that God holds for us is to set us free. When we are not aware or in line with the vision of God and live our lives centered in the word of the world instead of the Word of God, we find that there is lawlessness and licentiousness. When our lives are lived in alignment with our Lord, the power that we are given is great. We are not as entangled in worldliness because we are guarded by our faithfulness. We have direction and are less apt to be led astray. This is the calling of us as the people of God. We are called into the awareness of God’s will and His ways. Our eyes are to be opened to the possibilities that our Lord places before us so we may impact the lives of others. The power of the Holy Spirit opens us to be a help to those who are struggling so we may lead them into the faith and let them know the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
