“He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.”
Matthew 10:39, LSB
I remember the question as a kid, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” The answer for most changes as they grow older, but not too many will say “Missionary for Jesus” in their young life. We most often dream of careers that offer good pay and relative security. As followers of Christ, we are called to lay all our hopes and dreams at His feet, and no matter the work we do, it is all meant to glorify God. To be a missionary for Christ does not necessarily mean that you have to travel to far-flung regions and live a life without modern conveniences. The mission field is wide and begins out of our front doors as we are called to bring the Gospel to all, and there are many in need in all our local communities who God is preparing for His Gospel message of hope. Lay it all before Christ’s feet and know His salvation is for you, and live and lead others into His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
