Jeremiah 23:24

“Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.

 Jeremiah 23:24, NKJV

God is not deceived, and we cannot hide anything from Him because our Lord is everywhere at all times. He sees and knows all. Even so, He loves us and chooses us. This is a sign of His mercy and grace. It wasn’t that God didn't know where Adam and Eve were in the garden after they ate the fruit; rather, He felt their hearts pull away from Him. He calls us to Himself just as He did Adam and Eve. He wants us to find comfort in Him. Unfortunately, our sinful hearts melt when we hear His voice. Like a child running and hiding from a parent when he knows he has done something wrong, so are we with God. Yet God continues to call out to us and desires that we know His love and His forgiveness. He seeks us out and shines a light in dark places in order to set us free. His calling is for our salvation, and His words are calling us to enter into His peace.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
