He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 5:10, ESV
A reality for many people is the obsession with money. You can see this when the lottery announces that it has a very large prize. We see the announcement on the news and the stories of people rushing to the sites to purchase tickets. We hear the dreams of many sharing what they would do with the funds. It highlights the want in hearts, and often, we may hear the dissatisfaction with the state that many find themselves living in. Many dream of quitting their job and buying a better home, a better car, and traveling. This is the nature of humanity. We want the big prize, and we desire more. Discontent and the desire for more do not go away when financial circumstances change, but often the reverse happens, and people continue to look for more. God seeks to change that nature within us and to find our satisfaction fully within Him as He leads us into His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
