But now, completely apart from the law, a righteousness from God has been made known. The Law and the Prophets testify to it.

Romans 3:21, EHV

Because no one can truly keep God’s Law fully, through Christ, it has been shown to all that there is no other way to redemption. No sacrifice, no good work, no effort made can ensure that we are saved because all the work of salvation has been completed by Jesus on the Cross. This is because we all have failed and sinned. I love the brief moment after taking the Lord’s body and blood, feeling that brief period of knowing that all sin has been removed, but I quickly realize my own folly as something comes to mind that reminds me of my fallen nature. I look forward to the day when I stand fully restored before my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and have the pain of sin removed from me. This is the reality of all humanity when we are honest and see the shortcomings that are many and realize that without God’s gift, we would be without hope. Then we can breathe and, with a prayer, know the peace that only our Lord Jesus Christ can bring.

Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
