Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
1 Corinthians 6:19–20, ESV
It’s easy to forget that God claimed us at great cost, and the lives we live are called to be a reflection of the gift of His grace. Cheap grace endures as some seem to live as though Christ’s death was simple and the promise of salvation is earned through simply stating, “I believe.” There is no merit given in our saying anything, but the gift of salvation is realized as we are repented of the sin in our lives and our need for our Lord’s forgiveness is fully understood. The power of our Lord’s choosing is not meant to embolden us to live as we desire to live, but so we may come to the full transformation of our lives to be a reflection of Christ and a light to those seeking release from the burden of sin that ensnares and destroys. As we submit ourselves to our Lord, which includes our bodies, our Lord can utilize us as witnesses of His divine choosing and work within us to drive us to shine Christ’s light into the lives of others, leading all into His glorious peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
