Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
Ephesians 6:13, ESV
As followers of Christ, we have been provided with a strong defense against the forces of evil. Our minds and our hearts are protected against the barbs of the evil one, and the more we are found within the word of God and spend time in prayer, the greater the protection is, as the gifts of discernment will be greater and the chances of deception lessened greatly. We mustn’t worry about being tricked into doing anything contrary to God, as we stand steadfast in the Word because we have the Holy Spirit always near at hand to protect us also. We can also be confident that we will be given the strength to withstand any onslaught of the world’s lies and temptations as we face the lies that so often surround us. Our Lord, however, calls us to stand firm and continue in our proclamation as we show our Lord’s love and mercy to those who are led to hear His promises and come into the saving grace only He provides and find the peace of Christ our tattered souls so desperately need.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
