Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:3, ESV
It is only by the grace and power of our Lord, Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit that we are able to confess Him as our Lord. To confess this is not to confess Him only as a great teacher, but God Himself, who gave of Himself for us so we may enter into His glory. So, unless the Holy Spirit enters into someone and resides within them, there is no true way that this confession could ever pass from their lips. The same is true for the converse. The Holy Spirit would prevent us from ever truly blaspheming God and calling Him a curse, so be wary of those who claim a faith in our Lord yet proclaim blasphemies that are contrary to the Word of God for if one were truly speaking God’s Word and calling us to know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, could utter things that point to something that is not of our Lord or lead into paths of darkness. It is the gift of our Lord for which we pray that He keep us and guide us away from such darkness and to give us discernment not only to avoid such blasphemies, but to be a light to others, so we may not only enter, but lead those being led astray into His peace.
Let us pray. I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger, and I ask you to protect me this day also from sin and every evil, that in all I do today, I may please you. For into your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all that is mine. Let your holy angel watch over me, that the wicked foe have no power over me. Amen.
